Tagalog is the national language; however, the primary language depends on its native land. if you are in luzon it is tagalog. if you are in visayas and mindanao, visaya language is commonly used. English is the second language.

Okay, in the Philippines, it's primary language is Filipino BUT not everyone speaks it. In the schools, medium of instruction is English. I know a lot of people in Visayas who can't speak Filipino well (some can hardly speak at all) and I also know many people from Luzon who can't speak English well. (Although they all understand both well).
