A string of 10 light bulbs is wired in such a way that if

any individual light bulb fails, the entire string fails. If for

each individual light bulb the probability of failing during

time period T id 0.06, what is the probability that the

string of light bulbs will fail during time period T?

A.0.06

B.(0.06)^10

C.1-(0.06)^10

  1. the probability of atleast one bulb failing is 1 subtract the probability of none failing because these are the only two possibilities and therefore must add to 1.

    P(fail) = 1 - P(no fail)

    P(no fail) = 0.06^10

this is because for no fail very single bulb must not fail, there are 10 bulbs each with the probability of 0.06.

    P(fail) = 1 - 0.06^10

  2. I think its 1-P(none fail)  =

    1-(0.94)^10, so I think its

    E.
