What is the problem with carrying a bottle of water in my back pocket at my job?

i work in an office environment. i was asked to take a bottle of water to someone and my hands were full, so i stuck it in my back pocket. my supervisor immediately said "what is wrong with you?!" i said what? we ended up having this long conversation of me trying to find out what was wrong with what i did and her rubbing it in that i'm either A) unprofessional or B) no office etiquette. i began to say things like what's the difference with water in my pocket and the water in the store that who knows who had their stock room hands on. she asked if i was at home or on the football field and i said what does that have to do with anything. she asked me would i wear my pajamas to work...WHAT?!?!?! i'm sorry but i failed to see the correlation between pajamas and carrying a bottle of water in my back pocket to give to someone. what am i missing? am i missing anything at all or is she just trying to give me a hard time?

i mean i think i know what she is trying to get at but it's ridiculous. she would take money out someone's back pocket but not a bottle of water. she would take change, from hypothetically a backpocket, from the store after buying a NEW bottle of water and walk right and drink it. heck she drinks water after the stock guy stocked the water with his hands/gloves that have been everywhere, but she has a problem with it being in my back pocket? i don't get it.

  1. Start looking for a new job, it sounds like she is out to get you.

  2. And what would she have done in a similar circumstance?  You could have asked her that.  Sounds like this lady is ace b[rhymes with witch].

  3. maybe you have a smelly/dirty ***?

  4. Why do you argue with your supervisor?  How many other office workers in the place carry water bottles in their back pocket?  Do you get so thirsty at your job that you constantly have to have a water bottle?  Do you manufacture water bottles?  Every job has a job description telling you what to do and there is a thing called 'workplace etiquette.'  If you really think about it, what would happen if you accidently fell backwards?

  5. I wouldn't have put the water bottle in my back pocket, but then I wouldn't have given anyone else such a hard time for doing it, either.  Not sure what her problem is, but it sounds more like her preference then any specific office etiquette.  In future, don't put anything you have to give to someone at the office in your back pocket just so you don't have to hear her mouth.

  6. She totally over-reacted.  I would never think twice if someone was nice enough to bring me water and if the bottle was first in their pocket (and I'm a neat freak).  Whatever!  She is a nit picking nit wit.

    :-)

  7. I see absolutely no issues with that... she either likes you and wanted to strike up a conversation or she has issues...

  8. Your back pocket is RIGHT next to your A.S.S! Gross! Maybe it;s a feminine thing but I wouldn't want that bottle either...it would be all warm after being nestled next to your butt cheek!
