  1. Thanks Albert, I was wondering what was going on too.

  2. Basically they were all former Soviet states and when the USSR broke up, chaos errupted.

  3. Georgia was the initiator of all the stuff. Georgian army started bombing the city of Tskhinval (the capital of South Ossetia) at night of the 8th, August. More than thousand of citizens were killed, and thousands - injured. There were no military people that time! Georgia fought against women and children. Only after that (in the afternoon of 9th) Russian troops (that are located in that region as peacemakers, for Georgia had already tried to fight Ossetia for two times before) made some response to Georgia's invasion.

I ADVICE STOP FOLLOWING YOUR AMERICAN NEWS and STOP BEING TOOLS.

  4. Georgia historically included a piece of land called South Ossetia.  South Ossetia broke of from Georgia in the same way that Chechnya broke away from Russia.

Now when Chechnya left Russia the Russians decided to invade it and take it back.  When Georgia tried to do the same thing to South Ossetia Russia attacked Georgia to defend the breakaway region.

Russia wants to maintain control over that region and has encouraged Ossetians to get Russian passports so Russia could claim they were Russian citizens and use that as a pretext to attack Georgia.

In short, the Russians are power hungry, war mongering hypocrites and that's why they're attacking Georgia.
