I got a speeding ticket a month ago and the fine amount and everything just came in the mail last week. I dont want to contest it and I am eligible for traffic school, which i want to do asap (before the court date or I'll have to appear). Can I just go to the court house and pay it or do i have to mail it? and am i supposed to also pay the 25dollars for traffic school when i pay the fine?

  1. The information you need is on the back of your citation. If you lost it, drop by the courthouse and ask for the Traffic Division (some states/counties have various names for it. Its all the same) Ask the clerk for the information. Sometimes you need to appear in court, sometimes you can pay the fine and do the school over the 'net. Its all up to the court policy.

    Good luck

  2. It might vary by location.

If it doesn't give any specific instructions along with the fine, call up the department it came from and ask them.  You can probably pay the ticket through the mail, but as far as traffic school, you might have to register for it separately or pay somebody different...you don't want to get that tangled up if it's not all going to the same place.

But as to how it works where you are...I don't know and I wouldn't want to tell you something wrong.  Some places do weird things.  Call or visit the courthouse and make sure.

  3. send them a check in the mail for the fine.
