I am, of course, talking about the British throne.

Don't they appoint someone else for a time being?

And who appoints that person?

What is that person called?

And what would the infant be called? I think its something like the 'infant regelis' or something like that.

  1. currently, there are hundred's of heirs to the throne here in England... and we arn't likely to run out tbh...

  2. Despite being underage, the monarch would be the monarch, entitled to the full style of a monarch.

The next in line to the throne (age 18 or over) would serve as Regent.  This is found in the Regency Act 1937 (attached).

Remember, there are a great many descendants of the Electress Sophia (the royal from whom one must be descended to be "in line")...the odds of some catastrophe bumping off all but one are rare.

  3. A regent would be appointed, usually that would be the next senior member of the Royal Family.

In case Prince William would die, leaving an infant child behind, the most likely regent would be his brother, Prince Harry.
