  1. An MP in India is elected through general elections which take place after completion of the central governments term(not necessarily 5 ). They are elected for their respective constituencies(each state is divided into no. of zones called constituencies ) .If the MP of a ruling govt. defects then he has to resign.The Mp should be a citizen of India ,25 years or older.

    No civil/criminal(40 days+/-) suit can be filed against them while the parliament is in session.
