What is the process, or is it even possible to, send things away to get autographed by NHL players?

The item I'm interested in having signed is a large print of a painting. It would have to be shipped in a poster tube. making it kind of difficult to send with return postage.

  1. I once had a player in Quebec sign a few prints for me.  I enclosed a return label and some money for postage.  I had included a hand written note to place the return label over the previous label and ensure the postage mark was covered w/ the return label and/or new postage.

  2. players go to towns and have signing and u get an official sticker that proves that the signed it. i for got the website to find out sorry

  3. Usually trading cards or 3 X 5" index cards. The best way to do it is to send it in care of the players' teams.  It may take 6-8 weeks, or even longer, to get a reply.

  4. Currently about 90% of players sign autographs through the mail.

    1. Always send to the player care of the team's address at the arena

    2. Try to send a self addressed stamped envelope to the player as well so he has a place to send it back (hard to do if you are sending from Canada to the US or vice-versa).

Never send something irreplaceable to a player to sign, things get lost, forgotten, etc. If you do send something for a player to sign (cards, 8x10, etc) make sure you return envelope is big enough to accept the autographed item.

The Chicago Black Hawks have a designated time period twice a week where the players deal with the fan mail. TSN did a small piece on Lecavalier last year and he mentioned he sets aside 4-5 hours a week to answer his mail, sign autographs etc............and sometimes that wasn't enough.
