What is the process for getting a diagnosis of aspergers for my son?

my son has what i , and his school think is aspergers but when i took him to specialists they said he just needed to learn to socialise..i m unsure of what to do now

  1. aspergers is like autism, but unlike austistic people, aspergers sufferers dont show a talent like austistic people.

    Aspergers is more difficult to diagnose than austism because doctors, specialists etc may just think they are shy or developing slower etc.


  2. Firstly I would get a second opinion. Secondly aspergers syndrome is mild autism some of the "traits" of the syndrome are: not liking change and having trouble socialising.  By the way they do show talent in one thing more then others just like autism. A lot of the world best musicians, sciences and artist have aspergers syndrome.

  3. if the specialists say he just needs to socialise - then that's all there is to that - teachers aren't medical professionals, in fact they shouldnt be diagnosing your son anyway - that's not okay
