  1. First may I wish for you Allahs swt blessings on your impending marriage and may you live a long and happy life together ISA.

Along with your passport with at least 6 full calender mths of validity on it you must obtain an entry visa. If you will be staying longer than 3 mths allowed by the tourists visa you can apply for an extention  when it gets near to the time that your visa runs out.

You will need to bring a certified or the original cerificate recording your birth .

If you have been previously married then you will need to be able to present the original or a cerified copy of your divorce papers.

These will need to be endorsed by cerification of the Secretay of your state of residence in America

This proof of divorce and freedom to marry must also be accompanied by a full translation in Arabic that has been done by a certified court or government translator.

If you have reverted to Islam, then you will need to present

a letter from the leading Imam of one of your states largest masjids or centre for Isamic studies to validify your claim

Also bring with you at least 2 extra passport style photos of yourself that are fairly current.

Bring with you any documention that is legal proof of your identity and your marital and religous status.

In these situations there is no such thing as too much information

There are contracts between yourself and your fiancee. These need to be clearly defined, discussed, agreed upon by you both, then drawn up and witnessed.

You may have alrady had agreement cintacts drawn up on your engagement . I would recommend you review thise contracts and ensure that your self and any children should be as financially secure as possible if the marriage should end for some reason .

I know it is something that seems impossible at this stage and you dont even want to think about it,but you cant let your heart rule your head in these matters.

Agreement of appropriation should be discussed and made between your families as to who will be responsible for buying and giving you and your husband appliences, linen and furniture to make your home together. .

I don't know if you and your families still follow the tradition of payment of "a bride price".

If so, this is something that will need to be discussed between a male representative of your family and a male representative from his family.

Also contact your embassy and make doubly sure you have ecverything covered draw up a check list and mark if the must do's as you do them otherwise it can seem like you are confrinted by a mountain of "red tape".

But at the end its all well worth the waiting and the endless forms to be filled in and lodged.

Jumma Markbaraukkkkkka!!!!!  wishes for many, many wonderful years together. .

  4. Actually as of April of this year..when I went through this proccess you don't have to prove that you are Muslim..I didn't have to prove this and I am Muslima, which is something new...and also now...you only have to prove you are single if you were married before. If you were not ever married before you don't have to show this proof anymore because the American Embassy has stopped giving such authorizations, and so they are accepting this for now..may change again though...
