What is the process of buying a handgun in Louisiana??

My boyfriend is a life long hunter and loves guns. He already has a rifle, a couple shotguns, a 4570 etc. He keeps talking about wanting and pistol and I would love to get him one for Christmas. What is the process of buying a handgun and would he actually have to be there to buy it for himself & me just pay for it?

  1. Louisiana is a gun-friendly state.  Assuming you're 21 years old, all you need is to walk into your friendly neighborhood gun store with your La. driver's license.  And money.  

    Get him something nice!
