  1. A nice long application and $200.

Interview with AFT agent at the business.

Lots of records to upkeep. There can be no mistakes and the AFT guys periodically stop in to check the books and inventory.

It is very convenient to have the 01 FFL, buying and selling guns is a lot of fun.

  2. All you have to do is contact the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and submit an application. The applications are downloadable from the BATF website, or you may request one be sent to you.  You should expect an application fee of anywhere in the price range of $30-$3000, depending on whether you deal with non destructive or destructive firearms. The fee is also determined by if you are a manufacturer, importer, pawnbroker, dealer or collector. Expect the usual government processing time when it comes to your application.

How to get your federal firearms license can be as easy as pie for the honest and levelheaded second amendment fan. Distributing firearms can be a wonderful dream, which can now be a reality for a person who can produce an application fee and can take a few minutes to fill out a form. Remember that if you decide to skip this step when opening your firearm establishment, the consequences can be catastrophic for not only you, but your customer base as well.

    The legal requirements are

    1. You must be at least twenty one years old. There is no exception to this rule. You have to be twenty one just to own a gun, why would you think you could sell one at a younger age?

    2. You must have a place to set up a business. This must be an actual building or store where you can sell guns and collect money safely. Your garage will not work and you certainly cannot sell firearms online. Find a place to run your business and then apply.

    3. You cannot be prohibited from using firearms. Arrested for armed robbery and now on parole? Yeah, you won't be selling firearms legally any time soon. Drug convictions are another reason for denial of a license.

    4. Have you violated the Gun Control Act? If you have, don't even bother asking for an application. You break one law, and you won't be selling firearms anytime soon.

    5. How to get your federal firearms license is an easy process that can quickly become complicated if you lie on your application. The government will investigate you to no end and probably make a note of you for future reference. There will be a red flag every time you buy or sell a weapon from that point forward.

    6. Abide by business laws. All of them. That includes zoning laws.  If your communtity does not allow you to run a retail business from your home, then you must make arrangements to estaplish your business elsewhere (see #2). If you apply and get accepted, open the business. Don't expect the license to last forever. In fact, it won't.

  3. The process is not too complicated, but can be slow.

See the link...it refers to a class 3 FFL, but the process is similar. Prices vary according to which license you select.

You might post your reason for wanting a license...might get clearer answers.
