  1. The process is photosynthesis.  Oxygen is the byproduct of the plant using carbon dioxide along with water and the energy from sunlight to produce sugar.


  2. The process that uses carbon dioxide and water and energy from the sun to make glucose and oxygen gas is called photosynthesis.

    Note: carbon dioxide, CO2, is not converted into oxygen, but the whole process does what you ask.
