  1. for me its 4

  2. Do you mean schooling or School? Since this is a Home Schooling section I'm going to go with the small s :-)

Every child is different and schooling can mean so many different things. The thing is, it's almost impossible for children NOT to learn, it's so hard wired into the human brain, it's what we do. So, given that any child is learning all the time from birth, is the question more, when 'should' they start to learn to read and write?

My daughter wanted to learn to write when she was 3 1/2, but some children aren't going to be interested or ready until they're anything up to about 8! No age is right, no age is the best. Holding back a child who is ready at 3 obviously makes no sense, but equally pushing one who isn't ready at 5 just causes stress and a sense of failure which can kill off any love of learning. There are plenty of other skills they can be developing before learning the 3Rs.

  3. It depends on your birthday. If you turn 5 before September 30th then you start kindergarten on that year..if your birthday is after September 30th then you would start the following year

  4. It depends on how you approach school.  If you want to send them to a public institution, you will have to comply with their admission standards.  If you want to home school, their "schooling" starts with everything you teach them.  If you taught them to talk, you can start them on colors, letters, numbers and shapes.  Most kids with involved parents can master these things by the time they turn 3, and they can move into reading and writing at 3.  This is if you have worked with them from the time they develop language however, so it will depend on where you are now.  This doesn't mean putting your 3 year old at a desk to do homework, but learning is a game at this age, and they will come to you for lessons often if you don't pressure them.

  5. public school is six but you can start at five or four if ready

  6. Children are taught and educated from the moment they are born and they start unschooling almost immediately.

Regimented schooling is a hit or miss proposition.

Setting a child down with blocks and showing them letters in the form of a game becomes the start of schooling.

Whatever age the child can start absorbing things is the correct age.

There is no reason why a 5 year old can read 1 grade level, probably no reason a 4 year old couldn't starting learning such skills.

3 and 4 year olds have been known to work with computers, turning them on, finding paint and draw programs and having fun with these.

  7. I think 4 is a good age.  By then kids have the attention span to learn something and most of them can behave themselves

  8. yea for kindergarten its 5, before that you can send them to anything else. i would start at 3 so they can learn to interact with other children that aren't family members. they wont take u if u r 4 in kindergarten. even if your birthday is September 8 and school starts the 6, its NYS law!

  9. I don't know where you are from, but here in the United States for Preschool its anywhere from 3-4 years old and for Kindergarden is 5 Years old.

  10. Which type of schooling? Preschools here start at 3 usually, kindergarten at 5, grade 1 at 6. But that's just how things are set up here. I know that some European countries don't *allow* a child to be in school until they're 7, although preschool-type schools might be allowed.

  11. There is no proper age,it's when ever the child is ready.

  12. For every child it is different.  There is no set age that you are supposed to start sending a child to school.  It depends on their ability to learn, what they know, and their ability to communicate and get along with other children.  For me, I was 6 and started in 1 grade.  Others might be 4 and start preschool.  You have to know the child and use your best judgement to know when to start schooling a child.  However, education in the home can be occuring before schooling.  For example, I learned how to read and write before I even started school.

  14. When they are ready.

The children are learning from day one, all you have to do is add academics as their abilities grow.

I would not consider formal schooling before age 7, or 8.
