What is the proper height to hang a chandelier above a table?

  5. You want it high enough not to interfere with people sitting at the table. You also want it high enough to completely illuminate the table surface.

  7. This is a tricky question with no correct answer. This answer will be different for different style and locations. Here are some thing to think about when you are hanging the light.

    First off you do not want to block any ones field of vision so the light should be at least 18-22 inches above the table.

    Secondly you want to avoid getting glaring light in some ones eyes. If you have a light that throws light strait down(poker table light) it needs to hang lower. If you have a light with open bulbs it will need to hang higher.

    Finally the size of the room will make a difference. If you have a grand room with 14 foot ceiling  it would look silly  if you lights hung too low. There need  to be a balance of open space between the table light an ceiling.  Also you have to take in to account of you will have center pieces or not and how big they will be.
