Question:

What is the proper procedure for backing out of a parking spot?

I'm taking my driver's test tomorrow for the first time. I need to know if when I back out of my parking spot if I'm allowed to take quick glances at the car on my side. I'm kinda confused because when straight backing, they tell me I cannot look forward until I have come to a complete stop, but when I'm backing out of a parking spot, isn't it kind of impossible to look behind you the whole time without crashing into the cars next to you?

Thanks!

  1. 1. Make sure that all is clear.

    2. Turn your head around while backing out.

    3. Do this slowly.

    4. Watch out for parking lot traffic.

    5. Glance forward just to recheck for safety.

  2. check all your rear view mirrors and look backwards as you slowly back out--while looking backwards you can also see what is next to you

  3. you need to look all around you<

  4. They're right about straight backing, no looking forward until complete stop.  Yes you can take quick glances at the cars next to you and look behind you too all the same time. Just drive straight when backing up and when you know that you are out of the parking spot then turn your wheel.  Good Luck!  :)
