For example, do you say, good morning Council President, and other members? What's the formal way to address these individuals when you are going to speak at a city council meeting?

  1. Your question is number one on google for 'protocol addressing city council', wow.

From a city council's webpage - "If you wish to speak, step to the lectern, state your name and address and present your statement to the City Council."

I don't believe there is a need to address them formally, I never have, and I've testified at many public hearings - federal, state, and local.

  2. Good morning s**t heads....lets face it, they never take any notice of anyone but themselves.. why bother to attend their meetings.....

  3. I've never been to a city council meeting, so I'm not sure.  I know that a lot of times, the local cable company will show city council meetings on one of the public access channels.  Perhaps you could watch some meetings on TV to see how others address them.  Or go to the meeting and see how others address them.

  4. Always remember no what elected servant you address works for you and rest of the people who live with-in there jurisdiction. So really no formal greeting is needed, but one can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. If you are right on an issue and you just can't make them see a mistake and they say we have to agree to disagree make sure the person making statement knows that don't fix the issue. Good Luck!
