Question:

What is the proper way to call drinks at Starbucks?

I know you go down the cup, but I heard there were a couple exceptions...

If it's iced you need to call that before anything else, right? Then, if it's decaf or has extra shots, do those get called next in that order? The size goes after that and then just down the line, correct?

If anyone who is a certified barista can clarify that would be great.

Thanks!

  1. Hello! Yes, you do go down the cup. Say if someone ordered a Grande Iced Coffee... That would be an Iced Grande Iced Coffee. Think of it this way, Iced Grande is the CUP, and Iced Coffee is actually what's being prepared. For decaf, Iced grande decaf iced coffee. If someone wants an extra shot in an iced coffee or hot coffee, it would be a redeye for one shot, and a blackeye for two. For an extra shot in hot drinks, it depends on how many go in it already. Say someone orders a grande cappuccino with an extra shot.. that would be a triple grande cappuccino.
