so that I don't gain too much weight while I'm pregnant. I'm about 21 weeks pregnant and just 1 pound over. How can I eat properly without having to want to eat junk food and eat smaller meals during the day so that I don't gain too much weight. Please any thing will be great.

  1. when i was pregnant i avoided eating too much carbs such as cakes, bread, and rice.  i was 5'1" and 98 lbs so my doctor was worried if the baby is too big i will not be able to have a natural birth.  i ate mostly protein and veggies.  do not eat too much fish as most fish have mercury and this can be bad for you and your baby.  also i tried to eat less greasy foods, it was easier on my stomach.  my son was 7lb 2 oz and 22 inches at birth, i had a drug-free, pain-free natural birth.

  2. mypyramid.gov and your doctor can tell you the proper nutrition for while you are pregnant. Your body is going through a lot of changes, so you will have to eat more than usual while pregnant. Plus, your baby needs nourishment. For some things, your body will be able to sacrifice itself to provide for your baby. (like breaking down your bones to make sure the baby has enough calcium) But it really is best for all concerned if you eat right. (which appears to be what you are trying to do.)

In all honesty, when I was pregnant - I took prenatal vitamins and ate whatever I craved. (within reason ... luckily I mostly craved healthy stuff. But when I did want something like chicken nuggets dipped in chocolate ice cream - I only allowed myself 1 serving of each.) Through my pregnancy I gained 22 or 24 pounds. By the time my daughter was 2 weeks old, I was actually a few pounds lighter than I had been before getting pregnant.

I know that isn't a perfect answer to your question, but without more details - the best I can do is to say that you should make sure you are covering all of the important food groups, take your prenatal vitamins, and trust your body to tell you what it needs. Your requirements will change quite a bit over the next few months.

  3. with your mouth

  4. Take your body weight and multiply it by 11. That's how many calories you need to keep your current weight. Drop that by 500 calories. Make sure it's nutritious food too. 3 meals a day, 3 snacks. Fruits and Vegetables!

  5. Well, you have to eat more so that your baby gets lots of nourishment. The only way to not get fat is to just completely cut out the junk food.
