Question:

What is the proper way to run?

I am fairly new to jogging. The first two weeks I started off running slowly, and no more than 20 min sessions 3-4 times per week. Everything was fine until the third week, when I began getting dull, throbbing pain in my shins...ugh, shin splints. My friend told me I needed new running shoes (mine were old and crappy) so I got a new pair of $100 Asics, very comfortable, highly recommended running shoe - they really fit me great and provide excellent support. So you can imagine my dismay when, after two weeks' rest AND new shoes, I am getting shin splints AGAIN. What is going on? I am stretching before and after, limiting my jogging to 20 mins only 3 days/week, and have tried running on all different terrains - treadmill, pavement, track, etc. Nothing works - the shin splints keep coming back. It is very distressing. I can only assume that the problem is the way I am running. How does one properly run?? I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I must be landing on the wrong part of my feet or something...I can't imagine what else it would be, Any help would be appreciated, as I love jogging and don't want to have to give it up :(

  1. you should try an arch for your shoes. you can buy them at the store pretty inexpensive you can find foamy or gel-like arches and you find the right size for your shoe so when your foot moves when you're jogging there isn't a lot of friction to cause splints.

    hope it helped

  2. if you have access to a treadmill those are good for stamina training not as much the physcial aspect other than that your going the right way with supportive shoes and streching

just give it time and increase your routine sessions little by little every week the more you do it the more your body becomes use to it

and as for if your feet you should probably see a trainer about that but i doubt not everyone runs at the same motion

oh and it might help as well for you pains foot suports and when your tired if you jog backwards it helps

dont give up it is hard but i know a lot of people who are great at track because of the effort and its worth it after you get use to it just pace yourself and youll be good

  3. your supposed to laand on the ball of your foot, big strides and breath through your nose out through the mouth
