  1. An ordinary wine glass should do the trick. As long as it's wide enough to "breathe," it will taste fine.

  2. Use the Bordeaux glass;

    The Burgundy glass is used for delicate reds made from the Pinot Noir or the Gamay grapes.

    The Bordeaux glass is used for more hearty and robust reds from the Cabernet or Merlot grape.

    Rhone blends are usually more robust than the Pinot Noir, so use the Bordeaux glass.

  3. In all honesty, you can drink, enjoy, and appreciate wine from any sort of glass, though clear glass or crystal would be best to appreciate color and viscosity.  I can cup a glass of Opus 1 just as well from a true Bordeaux bowl as well as a coffee mug.  Too many oenophiles tout one shape or another, and they can enhance an effect, but the wine glass as it is known today was a marketing technique by Riedel to sell more glasses.

    If you want to own proper wine glasses, then you just need to buy 3 different types.  White wine glasses, slightly pear-shaped bowls that are taller than they are wide, red wine glasses, apple-shaped bowls that are about as tall as they are wide, and champagne, long narrow bowls that are free of any protrusions or blemishes are all you need to have an impressive bar.  I own a few more styles that were given as gifts, but they are more to make guests feel important....
