What is the psychological explanation for rudeness in human behavior?

Why are people, even seemingly intelligent, educated people rude? Is this just the way human nature is?

  1. Rudeness, in its purest form, at least in my opinion, comes from a lack of empathy for others feelings. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by rude. There are cultural differences whereby others reactions  may appear rude because you are unfamiliar with the particular patterns of interaction with this culture. Also, a person can appear rude or irritable if he/she is having a bad day when this person is normally a nice, caring person. As far as the psychological explanation, I'm not  sure if there is one. It could be a lack of emotional intelligence. Best  wishes.  


  2. I personally feel it's about family upbringing issue. Many parents are putting education before anything, it's like as long their kids are able to score on academically, rudeness has thus cast as being expressive.
