What is the purpose for the cheap items at Marc Jacobs?

it's like i can't decide if jacobs is trying to mock his customers or if he truly wants everyone to be able to afford something from him.

I feel kind of tricked because i bought one of those plastic bags from the store for $70........

theres just an afforadable line for ppl who cannot pay as much.

it helps spread his name and label around.

First of all, it is Marc by Marc Jacobs which is not the same as Marc Jacobs. Marc by Marc Jacobs was meant to be a more affordable line since not everyone has millions to buy his couture dresses. Yea those are pretty cheap but he has been doing this for a long time. Its a marketing strategy to get more attention and more people to buy his stuff.
