Is it just support underneath of the mattress? Okay, If i buy a bed frame that supplies support under the mattress, would I still need to buy a box spring?

I was told by a mattress salesman that it was a necessity but I'm not sure I believe this.

  1. It will help your mattress last longer by giving it the necessary support to keep it from distorting.

  2. This not only keeps your matress in better shape, but will keep your back in better shape... If your mattress starts to sag, then your body's skeletal system (depending on how you sleep) will start to "sag."  Basically it provides your body with the support it needs to prevent bulging back discs, nerve issues, or other issues that would require a chiropractor or even surgeries to correct.  I would highly advise that you get a box spring!  You'll have a better night's sleep

  3. its used to support a matress with the old frames that were just 4 metal beams if you are getting a platform or slade bed you dont need the box spring.

get a slade bed from ikea its nice and cheap.

P.S. you should have just asked me freak i was right next to you and remember i bought a new bed not to long ago?

  4. It just supports the mattress and the sellers of box springs.  You could use plywood just as well.   A platform bed has no box spring and works very nicely.
