  1. the two reasons are to keep ur hair from being in your face and presentation.

IF u where your hair in a ponytail when your spotting or jumping it gunna come around and hit your in the eyes or face lol

And it looks very clean and pretty!

  2. besides the clean, professional look, buns keep hair away from the face much better than ponytail, especially while turning, or jumping, or any fast, direction-changing movement. Other forms of dance put hair in ponytails and even just leave it down, because the style is supposed to be carefree, modern, natural, etc Unlike those types, usually modern dance, ballet's uniform is much more clean cut, one-sided, and delicate.

  3. if you had a ponytail in, when doing turns it would whip into your face.  plus buns make you look prettier and more put together.

  4. the purpose of a bun is not only to give you a clean and professional look, but it actually does keep the hair out of your face better than a ponytail.

in ballet when doing very fast turns, if you're wearing a ponytail, and if you have long hair, the end of the ponytail can hit your face while turning.

for example, i was taking a modern class in a ponytail, and i was doing fast turns. the hair kept hitting my eye everytime i would turn, and it even started to sting, and i couldn't see!

buns are not used in other forms of dance simply because ballet is slightly more strict and clean than other dance forms.

(although i think a bun would be more effective!)

  5. its the purpose of looking pretty and clean and a french tradition.i think

  6. To keep your hair from your face while you dance.

  7. I asked my ballet teacher a few months ago :) she told me that not only does it look nicer, it also creates a nicer line of your neck. Hope I helped!!

  8. Well if your hair were tied into a ponytail it will keep 'slapping' your face. And keep your hair neat.

  9. It gives a sleeker more graceful look.  A ponytail whipping around would distract from the dancer's moves.

  10. its used both to keep the hair out of the face and also to limit disctraction. If you have a ponytail waving back and forth every time you jump..that can get distracting.

  11. so your hair will not fall and hit your face. its hard to be on ponytail if you are spinning coz it might hurt your eyes.

  12. I never really thought there was a purpose, because i would always wear my hair in a pony tail. But recently i started putting my hair in a bun and its made a big difference.

♥ Yes it does look pretty and neat, which is how a ballet dancer is suppose to look

♥ When you are spotting, and you whip your head around your hair can hit you in the face, or it just moves when you spin and can you imagine a ballet dancer on stage with her hair in a ponytail whipping around. With a bun your hair stays in place.

♥ Your ponytail can be distracting, like i said when you move your ponytail moves, a bun doesnt move.

♥ i know for me i have thick hair and no matter how tight my ponytail is it always comes loose, where a bun stays in place and very tight.

♥ and of course it keeps the hair out of your eyes, and off of your face.

    ♥ hoped that helped ♥
