  1. Try borrowing one from your coach and feel for yourself if you need to get one

  2. Its to stop the vibrations you get when the ball hits the raquet at speed. Think about it a ball coming at your raquet say 120mph lol thats going cause some tension on the strings. Rafa vibrates :P hehe

  3. It removes vibration when u hit the ball. Vibration can get annoyimg

  4. I would highly recommend getting a vibration dampener. Not only does it eliminate the shock that would have eventually gone to your arm, it creates a more solid sounding shot when you swing. I would recommend the worm dampeners, I've used those throughout my entire college tennis career and they're great! The donut ones work alright, but they occasionally fly off of your tennis racket and then you don't know where it went!

  5. if you were talking about the string dampener, it really does minor vibration reduction because string dampeners are usually only attached to the middle main strings below the lowest cross string. what can reduce more vibration is the racquet's ability to absorb and diminish vibration. some racquets have some shock/vibration absorbing material built into the frame. for example, Triad technology from Wilson or Cortex technology from Babolat. so if you just want to try using a string dampener, just borrow from your coach. it really makes little difference. otherwise try to demo some racquets with the mentioned technology.

    hope it helps :)

  6. When the ball hits your racket there is a springy sound.  This stops that and lets you hit a more solid shot.  Some people don't like using them but you should try one.

They can also help prevent tennis elbow.

  7. Many people say that the vibration dampener changes the vibration of the racket. Some people say that it makes the strings vibrate less and gives you smoother shots.

This is a common misconception. This is wrong.

What vibration dampeners do is actually change the SOUND of the vibration. When your strings hit the ball, it makes a certain sound. When you use a dampener, the sound changes. Some people like the new sound better, maybe because they feel more confident hearing that sound or it's less distracting. So the dampener is actually a treat for the ears, and not the hands.

People who like using vibration dampeners like it because of the sound, not the feeling of the hands (because in reality, your hands would still feel the same)

  8. when u hit the ball the racket start vibrating for most people does vibrations are very annoying so with a dampener the vibrations are gone

  9. They help prevent tennis elbow. They also prevent vibration when the ball hits and also from making a little 'ping' sound when the ball hits. hope this helps [:

  10. it absorbs the shock from your racquet..
