What is the purpose of armpit hair?

Unless there is an important reason, which I doubt, I plan on lasering it off.

I think hair in armpit and groin acts as padding. while we move there are lots of friction and sweat  on those places. Hair acts as pads.

it pulls the sweat away from the armpit to make the bacteria move away fromt he skin, which could cause a rash and stuff  =/

since there is deodorant and antiperspirant now, its actually OK to go without armpit hair, like women do  :]

Everything in nature has a purpose.  Armpit and pubic hair both help to spread the pheremones that attract males and females to each other.  This is also the reason for body odor, if you were wondering.
