  2. In marine fire suppression, boundary cooling is used as a supplement to direct attack on the fire to reduce temperature and prevent failure of the containment. For instance, in an engine fire, boundary cooling might be implemented by water sprays (basically misting) on the decks and bulkheads of the engine room.
