  1. flys have a very important role in nature

they lay there eggs in dead animals so the dicompostition process hurries up.

  2. Why should they have a purpose?

  3. they really help decompose food as well as dead animals.  and they help keep our spider population going strong! lol

  4. Every creature no matter how small has a purpose. Insects are the most misunderstood and the most undervalued of all the animals.

We are still understanding & learning from them. Everyday a new species of insect is discovered.

Flies are yet to be fully understood. Scientists are still discovering new facts about them and maggots of some fly species are all ready being used for treating incurable wounds.

Yes, they are pests but they at the same time the most common purpose of flies are  -

Food for other animals not just other insects but birds and small mammals as well.

    Help in pollination.

They help in keeping the environment clean by using the dead flesh as a food and a breeding ground.

When they spread disease they are a source of natural population control for people or animals.

Another thing is that the worth of a creature may not be entirely known now but in the course of future you may find that they are more than just pest. Example - most of the animals today are or will become extinct apart from some exceptions.

So when most of the insects die out the flies who are far more adaptable and resistant to pesticides will become a major prey for the animals that have learned to adapt as well or those who are primarily dependent on them.

  5. Flies are not only a valuable food source of protein, they are literally the "Garbage Men" of Nature.  Their eggs develop into maggots and they eat dead and decomposing things.

Maggots have even been used in medicine.  Since they only eat dead tissue they can be put on a wound and clean it by only eating the dead flesh.  These are sterile maggots, of course.

All scavengers are extremely sacred in the circle of life because they sustain life directly from death.  That is why some are actually worshiped : Vultures in Egypt.

  6. Flies not only aid matter in decomposing, but they provide food for spiders. This in turn provides more spiders for birds, providing more food for larger predators like cats.
