What is the purpose of having a NJ Brotherhood of Police card?

I currently have an FOP card from my uncle who is a Sgt. from his department. But I recently heard of NJ Brotherhood cards.

What purpose do these cards serve? Are they similar to FOP cards?

Do you have to have any personal connections to an officer to receive one?

thanks a bunch.

  1. As useless as an FOP card....

    Just another union scam.

Guaranteed to get you a ticket if you show it to an officer during a traffic stop.

We don't do unions in Texas.

  2. I believe it is just another scam card given to people who donate to a bad charity that is claiming to help cops.

People think the cards/stickers help them get out of tickets. It does not, a good attitude does.

In my jurisdiction, a very large city, if you display the FOP medallion on the car and cannot show you are the police or an immediate member of the family you can be arrested, the real local FOP signs the complaints.

  3. I agree with the answer above.  Just another card guaranteed to get you a citation at a traffic stop.

  4. I've been a NJ cop for 28 years and I've never heard of it so its probably not a real police group.
