What is the purpose of having your rubber bands in a triangle?

I got more bands two weeks ago and they put it in triangles. What does these triangles do?

It is just pulling and adjusting your teeth in a different way than if you just had them from top to bottom in no real shape.  Orthodontics is like a science.  They have figured out the best and fastest ways to get you to your goal of straight teeth as quick as possible.
