I wear makeup alot but one thing I haven't tried is liquid eyeliner! Just wondering what is the purpose of using it? What look does it achieve? And as well as applying it on the lid are you supposed to put it on the bottom as well? Can anyone recommend me a good but cheap liquid eyeliner? They also seem so fiddly how the h**l do you do it! I saw a pen-like one by Maybelline today (the new pink define-a-line one) but when I tried it on my hand it didnt really come out that dark.. Any difference between wand ones and pen ones? Thanks.

  1. I think the pen ones are rubbish, the liquid eyeliner doesn't seem to flow out of them properly, i use the wand eyeliner, it gives a more defined look, stands out much more and lasts longer than pencil eyeliner

  2. Liquid liner is long wearing.  It gives a stronger more defined, darker line.  I suggest using it only the top lash line.  When applying to make it easier use small strokes across your lash line or get a liner which  has a pin tip, they are easier to use, and of course practice makes perfect.

One of my favorite basic brands is Covergirl, they have a liquid in with a pen tip.  http://www.covergirl.com/products/produc...

Compact, easy to hold high precision liquid eyeliner pen has a smudgeproof, fast-drying formula that glides on to create fine or bold lines without fuss, for looks that last all day.

  3. Definision and prescision!

You need a steady hand, resting the elbow holding the eyeliner on the table helps and with the other hand pull the outter corner of your eye slightly.

    PRACTICE!

    PRACTICE!

    PRACTICE!

  4. it's so much better than the pencils and the one i use does not smudge. collection 2000/black. and i use it on the top and bottom, but the bottom i gently smudge as i think it looks softer.

  5. I use a good old brush type (Lancome).

You have to have a steady hand to get a straight line and if you don't want it too look too dark/heavy, use a light touch and don't press too hard.

Personally, I wouldn't use it under the eye as I prefer a softer kohl there, but it all depends what look you want to achieve.

  6. liquid eyeliner makes your eyes stand out a lot more. I tried it once and hated it. i love my pencil eyeliner<3 (:

  7. i use almay and revlon

    almay has a softer brush

while revlon has a sharp fine brush

    they work well :)

i prefer only using liquid liner at the top other than the bottom

if it was at the bottom, it could smear (like if you cry)

i like using the cat's eye look

basically liquid liner defines more of your eyes and make them pop out more, than pencil liners.

  8. I use Rimmel - Exaggerate Eye Liner - 001 Black (£4.99)

I find it gives a more dramatic, distinct line.

I use it on the eye lid and the eye lip.

You may need to practice before you get good with it - I sucked when I first used it, but persevere :)

  9. your sposed 2 use it on the top....they make it just cuz some ppl prefer the liquid. its not 4 the bootom especially if u hv an unsteady hand or if u r applying it near the water line!

    plz help w/ mine!

  10. 1.being bold

    2.achieves a better look

    3.dots join them together

    4.pens better if u haven't got a steady hand

  11. its to sorta make ur eyes look darker and more defined

I got a pen like one from avon

I only line the top tho coz i end up lookin like a drag queen if i line the bottom

    CLeopatra flicks looks cool aswell

  12. liqed eyeloiner is for upper eye lids ONLY!! you put is at the base of you lashes it lakes you lashes look thicker at the root!!

rimmel is good and not that expensive!!!!!

it looks really good with eye shadow cos it brings out the llashes more!!!!

i dont apply it all along my lashes just near the outer ones cos i think its nicer there!!!!

    sure give it a go!!!!!

i love it and i never saw the point of it either when i first saw it!!!

    good luck xx!

  13. you can get any look with using liquid eyeliner it just depends on how you stroke the brush onto your eyes. it is mainly used for the top not the bottom. i have mainly used it for when i want to go out at night i do it just on the top and then add regular eyeliner on the bottom. it is better to use when you are going for a more precise look. when you use regular eyeliner its meant to smudge to create differnt effects (smoky eyes) things  like that.

  14. the purpose is just to make a darker dramatic, more defined look....i would suggest the ones with the brush if ur in england then collection 200 is rlly good in america i dont rlly kno but try covergirl or loreal not too expensive yet good....and u rlly should only put it on the tope lid bkz if u get it into ur eye its rlly not good and its easier to put ont he tope lid.......pull ur eye tight and then put ont he liquid......i put on a pencil and then liquid over it it makes it rlly dramamtic and thats the way i like it smokey, and dark.......so hope i helped

    good luck

  15. There is a big difference. Most people use liquid because it gives a smudge-free more precise line. It CAN be used on the bottom lid, but it depends on the liquid eyeliner. I would use MAC Liquidlast waterproof liquid liner. It can be used on upper and lower lids, it will last all day, and the color choices are very pretty. It is about $18.00 and can only purchased at a MAC counter or online. ( BUT it lasts about 1 1/2 years. ) It takes practice but can be easy and quick to use.

P.S if you do purchase the liner they will try to talk you into buying the make up remover which supposedly is the ONLY kind that can remove the liner. This is false you can buy a cheaper make-up remover that works just as well.

  16. It can achieve different looks..

    Emo, Scene etc etc

Amy winehouse and alot of other celebs use it,

most put it on the bottom but it depends for what look you want, you can get a good one for £2.99 from Barry M

  17. It stays on longer than an eye pencil and it also creates a defined look. if you want to put it on your lower lid just put it from the middle of your lid to the edge.

  18. the point is to get a bolder, brighter look. i hate liquid liner because it's flaky as all h**l... but it does look good as long as it isn't touched by any other makeup or anything at all... usually you only put it on the top, or it can irritate your eyes and look trashy... covergirl has some OKAY (not quite as flaky) liquid waterproof liner. just check it out at walgreens or target or something. as you found out, the pen liners just aren't as dark (and thus, defeats the whole purpose of using a liquid liner) as a brush or wand.

    good luck.

you'll probably stick with the pencils or roll-up liners, though... few people can stand liquid.
