I bought some of the right fit jeans at Lane Bryant for $40 and when I got home, I was shocked to see that the jeans were non colorfast. What is the purpose of that?

To me, it seems they want you to buy the nice dark rich color but then after a couple of washings they are all faded. Is this true?

  1. Maybe its a case of it costs the manufacturers less to use non-colourfast dye?

I dont think this is right though I wouldnt buy jeans from there again if i were you particularly, as they werent particularly 'cheap'.

  2. Probably because the manufacturers sell more jeans cos people have to replace them more often

  3. I recently bought my son 2 pair of black jeans that he badly wanted. I didn't think anything of it, as I had bought him black jeans before and washed them with my other jeans and some colored items. No problems. However, these 2 new pair bleed so badly, I have several articles that now have a dark gray tint to them. The tag inside reads "these jeans have been died with a special technique that provides the unique color." They're plain black jeans, jeez. I hate those things. I'm thinking the manufacturers assume that everyone wants their jeans to have that faded look after a few washings. Either that, or they simply want them to fade faster, thinking that you'll be buying your favorite jeans more often.
