  1. Placenta is a great fetilizer choice. A lot of women are also now choosing to eat or digest the placenta in the form of a vitamin.

  2. For us, it was a way to connect his arrival with the earth.  The tree we planted that day will forever be a reminder of his birth.

It's certainly nicer than having it incinerated as medical waste, isn't it?

  3. I don't know but my mom burried mine in the back yard..I was born at home.

  4. EDIT:Pls See Below:

You seem so disgusted by this idea.  Your child grew and developed from his placenta, not anything gross to me.  I gave birth at home and I have part of my placenta at home in our freezer.  We are planning on moving soon so we are waiting to plant in our new yard.

The placenta has incredible benefits some of which can be enjoyed by other living things to grow from.  It is used to plant trees because it is an excellent fertilizer and the tree that it becomes is a symbol of the child and it's growth.

If you think that is weird like me tell you so you can be further disgusted, my midwives recommended after I gave birth to eat some of my placenta to help me heal since I had lost quite a bit of blood.  I recovered quickly and would do the same next time of need be.  I also have some of it dried in capsules.

Edit:Sorry if I misread you on that one.  I think your WHYYYY made it sound like you couldn't for the life of you think of why someone would want anything to do with it, and maybe that is the case, you just don't think it is gross.  I apologize.  Thank you for asking the question.  I think more and more people are interested in this kind of stuff:homebirth, homeopathic medicene etc.

  5. Because its supposed to be symbolic.

Personally, I just think its a weird superstition.

  6. Heya,

Symbolic i would have thought, e.g you plant it and you can visit where it is buried anytime as a reminder of the special day.

I think it is a sweet idea, kudos for asking.

    But it is symbolic

    Hope i helped
