  1. Ask a flea what their purpose in life is and you will get a better answer than from any human, cat, or dog.

  2. Fleas cause dogs to get their master's attention for helping them get rid of them.  Fleas bond the family together to share warfare against a common enemy. Even the dog is part of your team.  Fleas gives dogs and humans a reason to itch..

The purpose of fleas young grasshopper is to bond a family team to share in ultimate victory and triumph over s cunning and seemingly invisible foe.  But once the fleas are vanquished and victory, peace and serenity is achieved a home becomes a home again.  For the dog and cats, and the family members.

Such a time only came about to the family because of the lowly flea.  But what a mighty service to the family home it achieved.  No?

    .

  3. Its god's way of reminding you of the joys of NOT having to scratch those itches all over your body.

Our skin is perfectly able to detect the smallest irritation yet no so sensitive that we feel inconsequential things.

Then along comes a flea to tell you how lucky you have been, until now that is.

  4. ...to suck blood and be an irritation to all animals and man...

  5. The function of life is to fill niches of opportunity. Fleas exist because they can and don't require our puny concepts of justification in a non-existent plan.

  6. Depends on your point of view...if that were the question, you must ask what, also, is the purpose of the existence of life? Fleas, mosquitoes, ticks, roaches...why not include, ants, pteradactyls, shrews, rolly-polly bugs, slugs...

Just because we can't ascertain a purpose, doesn't mean it doesn't have one, nor NEED to have one. Are they annoying? Yes, but so are traffic lights, teething babies and extremist religious, political and sport fanatics...heck, I'll include the whole human race is annoying...

Wait a minute, I think I just got back to the beginning of my point...fleas are just a metaphor as to how annoying life really is...regardless of what life form you're talking about. Even sharks are annoying...if you're a seal.

    peace,

    Baldy
