What is the purpose of the final round robin in Tennis at the Olympics? ?

After everyone has been awarded their medals, why does the gold medalist have to play the bronze medalist again in a round robin?

  1. There is no such thing. The event ends with the awarding of the medals.


  2. The gold medalist doesn't have to play anyone after he/she wins. They have the gold medal, the loser in the final has the silver medal. and the players that lost in the semifinals play one another for the bronze medal.

    That's it.

  3. everyone else here is all wrong! go straight to tennis.com and look at the LIVE SCORES! under there, it says that there's a ROUND ROBIN between the gold and bronze medalists! it really makes me mad when people act all like that when they answer, sorry (you know, all smart alecy, saying something completely wrong). But honestly, I dont know why they have to play, but THEY ARE, scuse the caps.
