What is the purpose of the points you gain for answering questions?

Do they go towards anything? Just wondering, i know its probably obvious but yeah.....answers much appreciated!!;)

  2. I think that it's just a tool to show other users how your advice is. For example, someone with more points would give better advice than someone with fewer points.
