Your right, but sometimes they are open, truckers can't be sure when they will or won't be  open

whatr use are speed traps if theyare not allways open? what use are laws if they arnt always enforced...i smoked pot 10 years ago...why have a law...no one arrested me

Over the years a lot of truck weigh stations are kept closed for economic reasons, but the driver is not off the hook. Many states do mobile patrols and pick a truck at random, random being one that looks like it has not been cared for , improper registration, driving through traffic and such. Even so, many jurisdictions have very aggressive weigh scale operations, and bypassing one brings a very stiff fine.Trying to check every truck is impossible and just slow down the delivery of goods.
