What is the purpose of using both headlights and fog lights at the same time when it’s not at all foggy? Why?

Why do you think folks use both headlights and fog lights at the same time when it’s not at all foggy?

What’s with folks who plaster dozens of stickers of all sorts on the back of their cars? Don’t they know how hard it is to read them all? I try not to do that when traffic is moving.

people use them so they can look good. there also could be that they can't turn them off when the headlights come on. about the stickers, it is hard to read all of them but it lets people voice their opinion to others.

running lights should be outlawed, lights are so bright anymore, lights with running lights blind everyone where you cannot see. it usedto be illegal to run fog lights and headlights at the same time. so manufactures put clear lenses in and called them running lights. like everyone drives in the dessert and needs side lights in the city.

It,s illegal,if they can,t see very well without them during the daytime with good road conditions they should get eyeglasses. This is very dangerous, when they tailgate,which is also illegal. If the police handed out tickets for tailgating and not just for speeding it might make for better drivers on the road.              Some bumper stickers are pretty funny and entertaining.It breaks the monotony on the road. A few funny ones is good,too many is too much.

1) Slightly better visibility. Fogs illuminate the spot under your headlights, and a bit to the side of them.

2) Other people can see you coming easier(around corners) if there's a bigger spot-of-light moving by.

3) At night, or in rainy conditions, fogs help in seeing traffic lines much easier, especially if you have vision problems.

4) What kind of stickers do you mean? If it's aftermarket-modification company logo's, then they're going for the tuner look. If it's random bumper stickers or radio-station logo's, they're swearing their allegiance. Or they're idiots.

Note for the people complaining: Daytime running lights aren't as bright as when the headlights are actually switched on. If you're being blinded by them, the guy probably has broken headlights, or your eyes are broken. Fogs should be pointed downwards and to the sides. Again, your eyes must be broken if that's a problem for you, or the fogs aren't aligned correctly. How do "idiotic" extra lights "dazzle" other drivers, unless they have ADD?

Technically fogs are supposed to be used for fog, yes, but I find that it's a lot safer to leave them on, if they're correctly aligned. Also, like sandy said, it's great for showing off, but only on some cars.

My fog lights are yellow and pointed down towards the ground because I make many road trips. The yellow makes it easier to see through the fog at late nights and illuminate the road. It's not blinding since it is...pointed down.

As for most people, I assure they don't even know their fog lights are on. And if they knew they had them, they probably don't know where to turn it off.

I don't know why they would use both, other than the fact that when you turn on your headlight, they all function together.  I learned a long time ago that when it is foggy, using the bright light on your car will only make the fog look thicker; thus, the purpose of the fog lights.

About the stickers on the back, just don't read them.  I agree with you.  Don't read them when traffic is moving.
