  1. Hemnes is great quality and is real wood--very sturdy, will last a long time. I love the Hemnes series.

Expedit is pressed fibreboard, like most of their other bookcases, but it is thicker, so it is sturdier, than Billy for example. You should be okay to get 5-10 years out of it, but don't expect more.

As for the color, I find that the lacquer on Hemnes and Expedit aren't quite the same, mostly that the Hemnes lacquer--because its real wood--adheres better, whereas Expedit tends to get much dirtier much faster. Your other option for a bookcase that would look lovely with Hemnes would be Markor in dark brown, it would be very rich and wonderful.

That being said, I love Hemnes, and Expedit is great value for money...which bedside table are you getting--the round one, or the square? I found the square one difficult to put together, but it's a nice design, in my mind.

  2. I have a Hemnes chest and a bedside table...the quality is very great and it was very easy to build each piece.  It is well worth the price and it looks very classy in my room.  The wood is very sturdy, and it doesn't look cheap.  I would reccomend buying the drawer dividers that Ikea sells because the drawers are very big.
