I need to get from CDG to Paris Est in about an hour - is there public transport that I can use that will do the trick?

  1. It's easy.

Take the commuter train (RER B) that goes from CDG to central Paris (marked by a blue "B" inside a circle)

Get off at Gare du Nord. In Gare du Nord, take the subway train (métro) n°5 (direction : Porte d'Italie), it's only one station away (you can take the subway n°4 too).

If your luggage's not too heavy, you can even walk from Gare du Nord to Gare de l'Est. It's a ten/fifteen minute walk. But if you take the subway, you're sure not to get lost, of course.

  2. The RER B will get you to Gare du Nord in 27 minutes and then you can walk to Gare de L'Est in 9 minutes.

You can also change to Metro line 4 to go from Gare du Nord to Gare de L"Est. That will probably take at least as long and maybe a few minutes more.

  3. take the metro?

i dunno if you can get it from where your going but its the easiest way to get around

  4. Quickest is the taxi, then the RER as described by Rillifane. To go to the RER you have to factor in the shuttle that will take you from the terminal to the RER station. Add in 20 minutes to the trip.

  5. It's amazing the things we have in Europe. Buses, taxis, highspeed underground rapid transit systems. You will love it, we really are civilsed!

If you are driving, exit the airport right onto Autoroute de nord and follow the A1/E19.

After 13.5 miles, bear right onto the Rue de la Chapelle, and turn right onto Boulevard de la Chapelle, then left onto Boulevard de Magenta. Bear left onto the DU8 Rue Mai 1945 and left, et voila, La Gare de l'Est!
