What is the "Lox" of Bagels and Lox?

Question

Is it meat? which meat? Maybe pork, maybe beef, maybe fish?

Not meat at all?

A freshly-baked plain bagel, a generous helping of Scotch Smoked Salmon, cream cheese, lemon juice, and, black pepper. Washed down with a nice cup of tea. Enjoy it.

Smoked salmon.  Who doesn't know this?   A bialy with a schmear of cream cheese, lox or nova and a little dill or onion.  Heaven.

Smoked salmon.  There are two types - regular and nova.  Regular is very salty, while nova is not.  I prefer a nice piece of nova on a toasted bagel with cream cheese, a slice of tomato and onion.  Yumm!  (a little whitefish salad or herring salad on the side is even better!)
