My 10 year old great nephew has been raised to think that my niece's husband is his father but he is not. My great nephew does not have the "same last name "of every one else in the family and he don't look like his brother or sister

  1. obviously with a different last name id be like hmmm at my age but at 10 i donno if he will catch on the looks arnt that imporatant as some genes skip generations like ressesive genes and dominant genes

but ur gonna have to tell him eventually id hate to think ie been living with a guy who isnt my dad

tell him the older he gets the more it hurts

  2. Well at the age of 10 he will for sure start to wonder about why his last name is not the same as the rest his family and why he has no resemblance to his brother and sister. I would say at the latest he will probably find out at the age of 14. Hope this helped, Good Luck, God Bless, and Have a Good Day.

  3. A child's "Real" parents are the ones who raised, loved, supported, been through the good and the bad times with one.  A "real" parent is not one who simply donated sperm.  Your great nephew's "Real" father is the man your niece married, he simply doesn't have the same last name the boy does.  Obviously the boy knows he isn't his father's BIOLOGICAL son but that doesn't mean he is any less a son to the man.

  4. He started wondering about this years ago, children are not stupid. Its a shame your niece didn't do the right thing and tell him a long time ago.

  5. When he starts to ask questions don't hide the truth, because if he feels you are ALL keeping a secret from him, he will have begin to feel like an outsider. Children's esteem and self worth are fragile, and easily damaged.

  6. Soon he will start to wonder why his last name is different.  When he starts asking questions that's when it's time for his mom and dad to explain the situation to him.
