Question:

What is the "concrete evidence" that evolution is true.?

I have searched the web, although it is called a theory there does not seem to be any real evidence for evolution. Labs have yet to turn protiens into life. The only thing I see to be true is the ability for species to adapt to different environments. So....where is the proof?

  1. You can't point at any one *single* thing and say "This is the proof that evolution is true."  (The famous "missing link" that creationists love to talk about, as if we could unearth one magical fossil and it will be "the proof" all by itself.) The proof of evolution is in the multiple pieces of evidence, that when put together, show how life evolved.

There is an astronomical amounts of individual pieces of evidence for evolution.  And repeated observances and testing show time and time and time again that evolution is a fact.

  2. You're doing it wrong.

Origins of life have nothing to do with Evolution. What you're asking is abiogenesis.

Also, Gravity is a Theory (with a big T), and it is a fact. Theory (with a big T) is fact. theory (small t) is a theory, hypothesis.

  3. I recently found out that the definition of "theory" has changed since I was in high school. It used to mean an idea unproven. Now it is an accepted proven idea. It truly amazes me that with out the missing link they just changed the definition. Schools now teach that evolution is a (theory) proven idea that is accepted. However, considering the volume of debate, I find that the idea is yet to be accepted. Thank God for the reasoning skills of those who don't just accept any thing they hear.

    Q

  4. you're kidding right?

  5. There is none. Missing link is called missing link because it is missing

  6. evolution is a separate theory than the origin of life. we can observe evolution through viruses. or even bacteria. small organisms such as these have the ability to evolve to become immune to drugs we use to try and kill them.

  7. One is fossils.

Obviously the further down the fossil, the older it is. So if you have a fossil really far down of, for instance, (and I'm just making this example up from the top of my head) a rabbit with really short ears, then in the same area but slightly less deep there is a skeleton that is virtually the same except for longer ears, and one with even longer ears in a more shallow depth then it is quite clear that over time the rabbit has evolved with longer ears, rather than just been made that way.

It has also become more clear as humans have understood the mysteries of dna and genetic mutations.

The horse is one of the most famous examples of evolution:

That info in the link is a bit heavy but surely it is better to read something difficult than live in ignorance.

  8. We are here.

  9. The existence of God is the concrete evidence that evolution is true.

  10. Go here:

    www.talkorigins.com

  11. there is none but faith.

  12. you are looking for evidence of abiogenesis, creation of life from non-life

major parts of evolution are proved by taking one population, separating it into two groups which are given different environmental pressures, and watching them evolve such that they are no longer capable of interbreeding with the other group... this has been observed many time... go google speciation

  13. Turn proteins into life???

Are you thinking of 'abiogenesis' ? Evolution doesn't speak of turning non-life into life. I doubt you have read a single thing on evolution.

Here is some obvious proof for you:

The reason you need a new flu shot every year is because the bacteria EVOLVES to resist the antibiotics.

The reason humans do not need appendixes or wisdom teeth anymore is because we have EVOLVED not to read them anymore.

Seeing as you need a basic introduction to evolution, why not read 'Introduction to Evolution' on wikipedia?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Introductio...

  14. I think what your problem is that you don't understand evolution. Evolution states that animals are constantly changing to suit there environment. That is why there are other primates about because they have also evolved to suit their environment and the animal they replaced our common ancestor is long gone.

  15. Oh, just hundreds of fossils in various intermediate stages, all matching up in chronological order, nothing grand.

And in the specific case of human common ancestry with apes, all you need to do is look at the 2nd chromosome. It's kind of telling the whole story right there.

  16. They have actually extracted DNA from a retro virus and using that DNA had the virus rebuilt.. That to me is simply amazing.. I'll look for the link for you.

  17. for an example,,if we humans were more complex versions of our primate brother,,why do the simpler versions of primates,(orang utan's and stuff) still exist.? one's evolution takes place the simpler versions are destined to be wiped out instantly...so why do they still exist.? so basicly we are not direct decendentss of those monkeys..ima creation of god.:)

  18. Evolution does not deal with the origin of life, two different subjects.

Researchers in nearly every field of science use their knowledge of evolution daily.

Understanding evolution has resulted in huge advances in genetics, epidemiology, archeology, agriculture, embryology, and bacteriology… the list goes on. It has produced tens of thousands of discoveries and greatly improved our quality of life.

~~Much of society does not need a grasp of the principles of evolution to take advantage of the benefits, just as they don’t need to understand chemistry to use plastic.

Many children don’t learn the principles of physics, chemistry or evolution in school. Later, in their homes and in many simple jobs they may never need such knowledge.

  19. So you searched the web, but nowhere in your research did you discover the fundamental fact that the theory of evolution has nothing to do with turning proteins into life?

  20. "Generation and annotation of human chromosomes 2 & 4."

by Hillier et al, Nature 2005.

Proof of our genetic link to the great apes.  We share a common ancestor and did not come from.

This research has been verified and reduplicated from other scientists from the international community.

  21. Perhaps you're confusing the origin of life with the Origin of Species. The first is as yet unknown, for the second read Darwin. Just because something has yet to be done doesn't mean that it never can or will be done. You'll just have to be patient.

  22. "Evolution" was first dreamed up by a man that did not believe in God. Then scientists tried to get the date he made up to fit. But it has never worked and they have had to keep changing dates, to fit things they find, sometimes leaving facts out too.

I have been asking for years: Where did the first atom come from that split into two, then four, then eight,.....  into all the air, liquids, rocks, feathers, fins, bark & leaves, and us including our brains? No one has ever answered that question. Evolution was started in the imagination and that is where it should stay.

Even fossils have been found with dinosaurs and humans foot prints both in it, from the same time.

  23. There is a difference between the normal definition of theory that we use in everyday speech and the definition of a scientific theory. The Theory of Gravity is a fact, not the normal definition of theory.
