What is the "forbidden fruit"?

In the story of Adam and Eve, does the 'apple' represent s*x? What is the forbidden fruit? Is it knowledge, or technology, or was it what the author said it was -- just an apple, and a test of obeisance?

If you read the larger text, you will see that the heavenly hosts (you know, angels, cherubim, etc), were concerned that eating of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would elevate humans nearly to their own status.  They wanted to protect their turf, so to speak, and keep mortals in their place.

Yes.  "Knowing" someone meant having s*x with them throughout the Bible: "And Adam KNEW his wife and she conceived."

The serpent is a p***s ("C'mon, try it - it won't kill you"), the fruit/tree is s*x.
