  1. children may go to nursery before reception year. Children that go to reception year are aged 4 or 5, it may also be called  primary school. Hope it helps

  2. In Australia, we have kindergarten (which is I think, equivalent to American Preschool) - this is for 4 year old children. Schooling then begins with Reception (which I think is equivalent to American Kndergarten?) - which is for 5 - 6 year olds.

Reception children are in a regular classroom in a a regular school, 5 days a week, usually from around 8:45 - 3:15, where they begin to learn reading, writing, mathematical skills, addition, etc. After reception comes grades 1 - 12.

  3. In the UK we have a choice for children age 4 to start in a reception Class at school or remain in a childcare facility or home (Nursery/preschool/child minder), The law states the next school term after they are 5 they must attend school.
