What is the race (ethnicity) of Ancient Egyptians?

I want to know if there were black or white and where they originally come from? which part of the known world then? there is many topics discussed this issue but when U read then U never get any direct answer!! If anyone knows, please tell

They were north african, which looks more middle eastern than black. When the greeks and romans invaded they got a little lighter, and then when it fell they kind of went back to normal.

I'm pretty sure they've always been from there, seeing as they started up when we were 3 hairs from being a baboon most other places. (joke)

The Egyptian people where the main ethnic group in Egypt for so long that they are just "Egyptian". Egyptians saw themselves as lighter than Nubians (whose main descendants are the Sudanese Arabs, southern Egyptian Arabs and Nubians), but darker than the Libyans (modern day Berbers and Maghrebi Arabs) as well as the Asiatics (Phoenicians, Arabian tribes, etc., modern day Arabs and Middle Eastern Jews mostly).

The modern Egyptian Arabs (except for the Arabized Nubians in the south) probably look pretty much the same as the ancient Egyptians.

I think the confusion began when some groups became their own race lfor what ever reason.

Obviously since at least the roman time egyptians have become a very mixed ethnic group as have most of the mediteranian countries and most parts of the expanded civalized world.

We are all mixed which probably explains why we're so mixed up.

They were Egyptian, not white and not black. Arabs invaded egypt during the Arab conquest of the 7th century...so they weren't Arab. I'd say the closest people they looked like were Ethiopians or Somalis...or Egyptians.

Also, you can't judge ancient Egyptians from that ancient picture showing the difference between an Egyptian and Nubian a Libyan and a Hittite, because Nubians are considerably lighter than they are depicted in that famous picture.

We can't put ancient Egyptians in the same racial categories we put ourselves in. But I will say that if you go to some places of southern egypt, even in Aswan, the people are pretty black looking...

The only way we're ever going to know for sure is even we clone a mummy.

they were egyptian.  black and white is not a race, they are colors.  look beyond colors.  

look at the egyption people today, and you have a pretty good idea about what they looked like 2500 years ago.
