What is the radio frequency that most broadcasting stations wont use due to unusual transmissions?

A friend of mine has been telling me about a radio frequency that all the major broadcasting organisations i.e. BBC wont use due to weird noises and unexplainable voices coming through!!

He read about this strange phenomena in a book many years ago.

I have searced the net but cant find anything relating to it, can anyone offer any info or explanations on this?

  1. Sounds to me like you're referring to the "numbers station"

    FallenJuggalo: I think that's more EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) than a frequency pick up. Those are recordings on magnetic tape as far as I'm aware.
