What is the rainfall really like in Jamaica in May?

We are flying out on the 12th and return on the 26th, this is my dream holiday but i have just been informed it will be the rainy season, does anyone know if it rains all day like it does here in britain? or is it the occasional shower? We are going montego bay.

It is more than occasional.  It will likely rain each day but not for the entire day. There are usually periods of heavy rain but the majority of the day you will be able to get out and do stuff.

I am also going to Jamaica in May,but between June and November is hurricane and rainy season.I have never heard of May being the rainy season.You will be there for two weeks,so If it rains,it will not last long,plus you have 2 weeks to enjoy your self.Have fun! I was there for 3 days in November,and it rained every day!I still had fun! Good luck! Have a great vacation.

my wife and I have been in Jamaica EACH of the last 8 Mays & we will be there again in 2 weeks ( we always go from 5/10 - 17 give or take 1-2 days ) to celebrate our Anniversary ( 5/12 ) . We have been in Negril the last 4 Mays & we did get rain almost EVERY afternoon around 4 pm , which worked well for us because we just went to our room to nap before dinner ! The storms usually last about 90 minutes or so and then the evening sky is crystal clear . We have been in Jamaica in March also & it never rained the entire week we were there . Enjoy your holiday & take a trip down to Negril from Montego Bay , it's a great little town with spectacular beaches ! Go to Rick's Cafe to watch the cliff divers , too ....

It hardly rains in Jamaica but when it does it rains for like 2 or 3 days. The weather is beautiful ! Just go and enjoy yourself !
