are you asking the ratio of being attacked versus not being attacked or the ratio of being attacked versus activity or place or time of day?  fact is, anytime you go into the open ocean, you're in the shark's territory, not yours.  check out the international shark attack file, they have all the info and statistics you can imagine on shark attacks.  fatal vs. non fatal, by activity, by species of shark, by place, time of day, male vs. female, etc.  Oh, and sharks don't just attack because the sense blood in the water, there's a whole lot more to it than that.

It is very unsaual Sharks only attack when they smell blood (usally) more people are killed by recreatinal accidents then the number of people kill by shark attacks
